5 DAY / 5 NIGHT Desert Excursion

Journey to the heart of the desert where billowing sand dunes stretch to the horizon.

November 11-15, 2023

This extension starts with dinner and one last night (Nov. 11) at the villa before an early morning departure to the dunes. Along the way you will visit the mysterious Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and explore this fascinating UNESCO world heritage site. After lunch, we’ll make a stop in the Valley of the Roses and visit a shop making oils and natural beauty products in the traditional way. You will spend the night tucked into a guest house deep in the Dades gorge.

The third day we’ll drive to the dunes, take a two hour camel ride and have a sleep over in traditional tents at the desert camp under a thick canopy of stars. In the morning you’ll watch the sunrise bring color to the desert then head back to Marrakesh and take in a few casbahs on route.

The last night we’ll have dinner and sleep at a cosy riad (traditional B&B) in Marrakech. Most guests are flying out the next day, November 18. 

Disclaimer: there is a LOT of driving. For example, it’s about 8 hours on the last day. This is more of an adventure tour but the tents have toilets, showers and real beds - Glamping!

Itinerary :

Saturday Nov. 11 - rest at the villa or go into town for optional shopping, dinner at the villa, sleep at villa

Sunday Nov. 12 - breakfast, 8am departure, lunch and visit at Kasbah Ain Ben Haddou, dinner, sleep at guesthouse.

Monday Nov. 13 -  breakfast, 9am departure, lunch, camel ride, desert sunset, dinner, sleep in luxury tent.    

Wednesday Nov. 14 -  breakfast, 9am departure, lunch, Kasbah visit, evening arrival in Marrakech, dinner, sleep at riad.

Thursday Nov. 15 -  breakfast, airport transfer

Payments:

Balance is due October 1, 2023. A balance request will be sent a few days before with a link to pay with credit card. We will be in touch with you in the meantime sending information and inspiration about Morocco and, in late September, a reminder about the balance.

Conditions:

We are as sure as we can be of the November 2023 dates, but there is always the chance that dates may change. For example, if travel is not permitted/recommended without quarantine to/from Morocco or your country of origin the tour will be rescheduled. If you are not able to make the new dates, your deposit will be refunded minus 100€ for 7% banking fees and a 30€ restocking fee. If the workshop is rescheduled after the balance is paid and you are not able to make the new dates, your payment will be refunded minus 7% banking fees and a 30€ restocking fee.

Your health & Safety:

We want to create a safe and healthy environment for all our guests in our post-COVID world. We ask that our guests be vaccinated and respect others wishes or desires to wear a mask if they so choose. The villa staff and villa are compliant with current regulations in Morocco. Guests are asked to bring masks and if they are not feeling well to be respectful in keeping their distance until they are better. These precautions are subject to change if Covid safety measures are updated.

Cancellations:

If you decide to cancel after the deposit is charged, we can refund the deposit if you have some one to take your space in which case a 200€ restocking fee will be deducted from the refund, but you will not be liable for the balance. If you decide to cancel after the balance is charged, we can refund the balance if you have some one to take your space in which case a 200€ restocking fee will be deducted from the refund. We strongly recommend travel insurance and have provided a convenient link to our travel partner World Nomads insurance below. In case of unforeseen events, accidents or travel delays causing you to miss the retreat, we will be unable to refund your payments.
